What is jEditor?

JEditor is a simple Java text Editor with syntax highlighting which is designed to be used in a library in other applications. A typical use case is an application which needs to edit text files.

Why two distributions?

JEditor use the MIT-licensed code provided by the jEdit syntax package. This code is a no longer maintained very old version (2001) of a part of the jEdit text editor.

The GPL distribution of JEditor is based on the GNU diff for Java, developed by Stuart D. Gathman, based on the GNU Diffutils project.

What is the history of this project?
